Structural Analysis of PFCB W14 Material Using COMSOL Multiphysics

Piezoelectricity is a revolutionary source for renewable energy. It can also be used as a sensor in health monitoring of big structures such as bridges, dams and tunnels. A cantilever beam was designed with PFCB W14 piezoelectric material and its structural analysis was performed using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Eigen frequency and stress measurement of the cantilever beam was done. The designed model and simulation study will help optimize the development of PFCB W14 based MEMS sensors and allow their calibration. The frequency of vibration 30.375Hz which gives a maximum deflection which corresponded to a higher generated electrical voltage output, which can be further utilized for energy harvesting using piezoelectric material.
