LCL Filter Based Solar Photovoltaic Distributed Generation System

Power generation form renewable energy sources have gained prominent importance now a days due to its abundant availability and zero carbon dioxide emission nature. The interface of converters has become very vital in transferring the power from energy sources such as wind, solar to the grid. But due to switching action of the converter it generates total harmonic distortion (THD) in power output. So to reduce the total harmonic distortion, LCL filter is used to reduce the harmonics generated by the converter. Although there exist so many literature regarding designing and describing LCL filters, there are lack of systematic design procedures and methodology. After that also, there persist a clearly lack of defined mathematical modeling approach which taken into account two cases of delta-and wye-connected capacitors along with the resistor on grounding. This paper presents a systematic procedure to design a LCL filter and application in solar photo-voltaic distributed generation (PVDG) system along with a well defined approach for reduction of harmonics. The techniques and procedure presented in this paper has been applied to a small Solar PVDG systems and may also be apply for medium and above solar PVDG systems.
