A Comparative Study of Different Control strategies for Isolated Buck (Fly-Buck) Converter

This paper presents a comparative study of different control strategies for fly-buck converter such as voltage mode control (VMC) and constant on-time control (COTC) with ripple injection techniques. In this paper, VMC of fly-buck converter using type III controller has been designed for regulating the converter outputs. The PSpice simulation of a 5W fly-buck converter operating with a switching frequency of 100 kHz has been done to substantiate the analysis done. After VMC, the COTC of fly-buck converter with and without ripple injection techniques has been designed and simulated in PSpice. A comparative study between VMC and COTC of fly-buck converter with and without ripple injection techniques has been performed in terms of settling time, ripple content in output voltage etc.
