A New Soft-Switched High Gain Boost Converter

This paper presents a new soft-switched high gain coupled-inductor boost converter operating within permissible range of duty ratio. All semiconductor switches of the proposed converter change their states under soft switched condition and the diodes commutate softly. Operation of the proposed converter is presented and analyzed in detail. A hardware prototype of the proposed converter rated with nominal 16V-24V input, 220V/500 W output and 100 kHz switching frequency was designed, fabricated and tested in the laboratory. Switching behavior of the converter was found to be matching with the predictions.
