Identification of Three Zones of Mal-Operations in Series Capacitor Compensated Transmission Network

This work investigates the problems faced by conventional distance relays present on the Series Capacitor (SC) with 40% compensation at the midpoint of transmission network. The detail examinations of mal-operations in three-zones of distance relay on series capacitor compensated line are studied in this work. Finally, the impacts of SC on adjacent line relays are observed. The accurate apparent impedance is estimated based on DFT-mimic filter algorithm. The test power system and simulations are developed in MATLAB/Simulink Software.
