Numerical Investigation on the Flow Field Around a Wind Turbine Nacelle Anemometer

In the present paper, numerical study of the air flow in the immediate wind turbine near wake is performed. The present work focuses on the numerical prediction of the anemometer measurements placed upon the wind turbine nacelle. The air flow is mathematically presented by the steady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Three turbulence models are then compared, which are the one equation Spalart Allmaras model and the two equations k-ε and Realizable k-ε models. The numerical results are compared to the experimental measurements. It has been found that the wind velocities at nacelle anemometer position are in match the experimental data with good agreement when the k-ε turbulence model is applied.
