A Thin Composite Emission Filter and Fiber Coupled Laser Excitation for Implantable Fluorescence Imager Application

In this study, we demonstrate a novel multilayer emission filter and fiber coupled laser illumination for an implantable fluorescence imager. The filter comprises an interference and an absorption filter. It produces high-quality band-pass spectrum characteristics. On the other hand, the fiber coupled laser provides a fully controllable narrow-spectrum light source. This combination leads to the capability of capturing fluorescence emission from the beads as well as the green fluorescent protein (GFP) in a brain slice moderately.
