Compact Harmonic-Tuned Rectifier using Inductive Matching Network

This paper presents a compact harmonic-tuned rectifier using an inductive matching network. An inductance is employed in series with a diode to obtain a suitable input reflection coefficient and furthermore, this inductance supports suitable harmonic termination. Compared to a typical rectifier, a matching network between the input source and the diode can be removed. Hence, the advantages of the approach are compact and no insertion loss from the matching network. The principle of the inductive matching network is discussed in this paper. A prototype is implemented to demonstrate the concept. Measured peak efficiency of 65.4% is obtained at input power of 0.5 dBm at 2.4 GHz. The occupied area is less than 1.3 cm
