New Standardized EMC Evaluation Methods for Communication Transceivers

This letter introduces EMC evaluation methods and requirements for communication transceiver integrated circuits (ICs) described in the new International Electronic Commission standard series IEC62228. Based on typical results of CAN transceivers, a cross comparison of measurement results on IC level, component level, and vehicle level will be provided. The correlation of results and the potential to harmonize requirements in respect to test methods and effort will be discussed.
