Enhancement of Gain and Directivity of a Rectangular Waveguide Using Hemispherical Lens Antenna at C Band

In this paper, a rectangular wave guide is designed to operate at C band and used as feed for a lens antenna for low range applications. The rectangular waveguide is coaxially fed. The simulated antenna gain is about 11.72 dB and directivity is about 11.63 dBi. Preliminary experimental measurements are shown using only waveguide without the lens. It is shown by evaluation that the gain is increased by about 4 dB by adding a 3D modeled hemispherical lens made of Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) material of 28.5 mm radius at 15 distance from the waveguide. Thus the gain and directivity both are increased by 3 dBi.
