Spatial Mode Dispersion Suppressed Randomly-Coupled Multi-Core Fiber in Straightened Loose-Tube Cable

We experimentally and numerically demonstrate, in a straightened loose-tube cable, fiber deformation can induce random mode coupling and the spatial mode dispersion of a coupled multi-core fiber can be suppressed to be 4.2 ps/√km.
