4×96 Gbit/s PAM8 for Short-Reach Applications Employing Low-Cost DML without Pre-Equalization

We demonstrate 4×96-Gbit/s PAM8 transmission enabled by low-cost DMLs with the narrowest 3-dB bandwidth of 13.5-GHz for the first time. Thanks to the optimized Volterra equalizer, 15-km SSMF distance is achieved without optical amplification and pre-equalization.
