Developing a Device for Collecting of Hair Follicles for Non-incision Hair Transplantation

Due to increased environmental pollution and stress factors, acquired hair loss has recently increased. Hair loss is expanding not only for middle-aged men but also for women and young people. Among the surgical methods for hair transplants due to rapid recovery and minor injuries, non-intersectional surgery is currently preferred over incision. In this study, we design and develop a new hair follicles extraction system that can be used for FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method, which is a non-incisional surgical method. Compared to the existing system, the main controller can control the needle rotation speed precisely and variously. Since the conventional punch needles are released in fixed length manufacturer, and result in inconveniences to use. In this study, however, the needles are designed to adjust the length between 5mm and 10mm. Also, the needle shape was finely manufactured so that the hair follicle was easily collected. Through consultation with various doctors and review of the new device, we were able to confirm the superiority of the proposed system over the existing system.
