An Ontology of Services Computing Systems

There are various definitions and approaches of services computing systems proposed by previous studies. Various concepts and definitions of service computing systems lead to the emergence of various understandings and perspectives of the system. However, there is still lack of a concise concept of the systems. The understanding of this area is still limited and requires in-depth study to realize the concept of services computing systems. This paper presents an ontology of services computing systems based on relevant previous studies from an engineering perspective. The ontology will outline the concepts and definition of the services computing systems from two approaches, i.e. engineering disciplines and systems characteristics. The ontology is then used as a basis for proposing metamodel of services computing systems. The metamodel describes several entities that are needed to realize the systems.
