Security of ITU-T G.9903 and G.9904 – a New Approach for a Systematic Analysis

This paper provides a security analysis of two narrowband-PLC standards, namely of ITU-T G.9903 (G3) and ITU-T G.9904 (PRIME). The analysis is solely based on the specifications on both technical standards. We propose a new approach for a structured and rated analysis of the security properties of a technical standard. The determined security flaws are weighted by using their related security objectives and thus provide an overall score to rate and compare the standards in terms of their security risk potential.
