Electrical Condition Monitoring of Low Voltage Nuclear Power Plant Cables: tanδ and Capacitance

In this research work, low voltage nuclear power plant power cable samples are thermally aged. The effect of the aging condition on the degradation of the state of the jacket is investigated by monitoring the tanδ and capacitance as a nondestructive technique. The analysis is carried out by studying the variation of the electrical parameters with a range of frequency from 20 Hz to 500 kHz. A correlation between the tanδ and elongation at break with the aging time has also been studied.
