Comparison of APNs and GCM mobile platforms notifications services

In this paper, we present two mobile notifications services looking at advantages and disadvantages. Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) is the notification system proprietary design by Apple and used for sending notifications to iOS and OSX devices. Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) is a service developed by Google and used by developers to send data from their servers to Android applications installed on Android devices. Even if these services seem to work in the same manner there are some key differences between them regarding the size and the way they store the notification before sending them to the devices.
