Design and Analysis of Three Phase SegSta 12S-12P Permanent Magnet Flux Switching Machine

This paper presents the comparison of 2D Finite Element Analysis between conventional 12Slot-14Pole PMFSM and segmental stator 12Slot-12Pole PMFSM. A segmental stator (SegSta) concept is to prove the fault-tolerant design for Flux Switching Permanent Magnet Machines (FSPMMs). FSPMMs have a high power dense, good overload capability and higher torque performance compared to induction machines (IMs) and switch reluctance machines (SRMs). This criteria and advantages explain the reason why the PMFSM is chosen for a fault tolerance design and to achieve a maximum torque needed and high-power factor at high speed region compared to SRM which have a limited torque, power and low maximum speed operation. Therefore, a brief explaination of no load and load analysis about the SegSta 12Slot-12Pole SFPMM, such as flux linkage analysis, back-emf, flux distribution, flux lines, rotor stress analysis, average torque and average power output performance in various armature current density.
