Parallel Computing of Finite-Element Analysis Coupled With Circuit Equations for 3-D Eddy Current Analysis of Segmented Transformers by Using Combination of Central and Graphical Processing Units

In this paper, we propose a novel parallel computing method of the finite-element analysis (FEA) coupled with circuit equations for 3-D eddy current analysis of segmented transformers. The proposed method is carried out by using the combination of a central processing unit and a graphical processing unit (GPU). In the proposed method, the loads of the cores of GPU are averaged by considering the matrix of FEA coupled with voltage equations. It is clarified that the total computational time of the eddy current analysis for the transformers is significantly reduced as compared with that by the conventional parallel computing method.
