Implementation of an Indoor Positioning System using the WKNN Algorithm

This paper presents an indoor positioning system prototype developed as a mobile application for Kettering University's Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department area. The prototype is based on Wi-Fi radio signal strength indicator (RSSI) technology. A weighted k-nearest neighbor (WKNN) algorithm is implemented to estimate the user's location. The algorithm is implemented as an Android App that could be utilized to identify the user's location in a map.
