Development of LED Light Compensation System for Agricultural Application

The study was performed to find out the effect of extending sunlight on Zea Rugosa using automated LED. The effect was determined based on the growth of zea rugosa under three set ups with three replications. One is regular (R) and two controlled (C1 and C2), the two set ups had different wavelength (Blue and Purple) of light treatment as sources of light during night time. All set ups received the same treatment such as application of fertilizer, same soil condition and all set ups were done outdoor. Observation on number of leaves and plants height was recorded manually. Statistical Tool on Agricultural Research (STAR), paired T-Test particularly helped this study determine the effect of continuous light on zea rugosa's growth. In this study, the value of Pr(>/t/) in purple LED array was .0025 which had a highly significant effect compared to blue LED array which had .01 in terms of plant height. While in the number of leaves, purple LED array Pr(>/t/) value was .0000 compared to blue LED array which was .1431 and it showed that purple LED array can influence the increase of both plant height and the number of leaves while blue light can increase the plant height only. However, both continuous light had no significant effect on plants in terms of number of yields as it prolong the growth of Zea Rugosa. Based on the results, the researcher recommends, that the blue and purple LED array be further tested using long day plant or C4.
