Abstract:

Head detection and tracking has become a significant factor in image processing for the past few years due to its many applications in the field of computer vision. It can play a vital role in a surveillance system. In this paper, the researchers familiarizes and exposes themselves with OpenCV. OpenCV is an open source computer vision library that is written in C and C++. OpenCV is designed for computational efficiency, more-so on real-time applications. Its applications include, facial recognition system, gesture recognition, object detection, segmentation and recognition, motion understanding, and more. This study is part of a bigger research which involves facial recognition implemented in a CCTV system. First the group aims to have a deeper knowledege and understanding about head detection and tracking using OpenCV. The system will utilize head detection using Haar-like features, Haar Training, Concensus-based Matching and Tracking Keypoints (CMT).
