A Telemonitoring System for Remote Pediatric Application using Cloud Computing

Marginalized family living in distant areas hardly finds access to health care. This study focuses on the problem on how to design a telemonitoring system for infants in remote areas. It aims to develop a monitoring system that can measure vital signs such as heart rate, temperature and weight and stores these data to cloud. The system had used ATmega Arduino, Bluetooth Technology, Cloud, and electrode sensors. In order to evaluate the reliability of the telemedicine prototype for consistency of results, the following parameters were determined: absolute error, percent error, relative percent accuracy, precision, and test-retest reliability or coefficient of stability. Measured vital signs using the system has coefficient stability of 0.911 for body temperature,0.998 for heart rate, and 0.99 for body weight. From the repeated measurements, the telemedicine prototype provides measurement of vital signs equal to measured value plus the mean standard deviation: 0.19 for body temperature, 1.84standard deviation for heart rate, and 0.83 for body weight. Inclusion of ECG and Blood oxygen saturation may be considered for future study.
