Glottal Wave Analysis of Dysphonic Voice Using Inverse Filtering

Glottal flow, which is the source of the human speech, can be analyzed to detect various voice disorders in a noninvasive way. The glottal wave is obtained from the speech wave by a process called Inverse Filtering (IF). IF is used in almost all Speech Processing applications. In this paper, Iterative Adaptive Inverse Filtering (IAIF) is used to obtain the glottal wave of a healthy voice as well as a pathological voice for the same vowel sound /a/. The pathological voice used here is a Dysphonic voice, which is the first presenting symptom of Larynx cancer. The glottal wave of both the samples are plotted and studied. The glottal pulse parameters are also obtained for both waves and compared. These analyses can be used further to detect and analyze various voice disorders.
