Abstract:

The antenna plays a vital role for signal transmission and reception in communication systems. Interestingly, the Vivaldi antenna is one of the promising arrays as it can be used for large bandwidth coverage and different emerging applications. Driven by this motivation, the main aim of this research is to design and analysis the Vivaldi antennas which can operate in the Ku frequency band and use for biomedical applications such as brain tumour detection. The array of different Vivaldi antennas are being designed and verified using the CST microwave studio. The designed four different Vivaldi antenna arrays are very simple, tiny, and portable. For doing this, we have used a microstrip feed line due to its simplicity, ease of fabrication, and better reliability. The step by step design procedure and specifications of the different Vivaldi antennas are well described in this paper. The performance of the proposed antennas are demonstrated in terms of radiation patterns, return losses, and voltage standing wave ratio. It shows that the antenna gain is improved when the number of array is increased.
