Automatic Customisation of Temperature Sensor Based on Piecewise-Line Interpolation

Nowadays almost all state-of-the-art equipment has temperature sensors. Often engineering projects have tight deadlines and poor funding. For this reason engineers have to use temperature sensors with lower precision than the reference temperature detector allows. Thermal sensors with the lowest accuracy as well as piecewise-linear interpolation can solve the problem if the engineer has just one reference sensor.The work describes an experiment with Pt-100 Resistance temperature detector and Arduino UNO microcontroller. For the test we used a metal vessel with water at different fixed temperatures, where measurements were made using a reference sensor and a Pt-100 sensor. The results were used in the interpolation formula for the microprocessor code. The results of the adjustment proved to be close to the data obtained by the reference sensor.The results demonstrate that the piecewise linear interpolation method is highly efficient in temperature setting and solves pressing problems.
