On the Effect of Light Emitting Diodes Positions on the Performance of an Indoor Visible Light Communication System

Visible light communication (VLC) is a new emerging technology that utilizes the light emitting diodes (LEDs) for both illumination and information transmission functionalities. The LEDs’ positioning inside an indoor environment plays an important role in VLC performance. The purpose of this paper is to show by simulation how the LEDs various allocations affect the amount of received power at the photodetector, which in turns affects the probability of error, therefore, LEDs spatial positioning should be taken into consideration while designing an indoor VLC system.
