Synchronisation of Islanded Networks with Distributed Generation Using SST

This paper approaches the power quality and uninterruptible power supply problem in relation to mining enterprises and isolated consumers. The purpose of this research is to analyze combination of renewable energy sources and their synchronizing equipment for the safe and robust usage at industrial isolated facilities in addition to the centralized power supply sources from the main grid. One of the main problems during such implementation is harmonics pollution and reactive power presence that leads to disturbances in supply voltage, flickering, voltage drops and overheating of utilized equipment. Solid State Transformers seem to be a very efficient and reasonable solution to mitigate power quality problem.
