A New model of Metal Oxide Arresters and the Recognition of Model Parameters

The aging degree and the moisture content impose severe influence on the operational performance of Metal Oxide Arrester(MOA). A new model is put forward to describe the electrical characteristics of MOA. For the aging phenomenon, it is mainly presented by the conducting characteristics of MOA, and the moisture effects the insulation dielectrics performance by and large, the equivalent model is investigated in these two modes and can be simplified in two different forms. In the nonlinear V-I area, the volt-ampere properties under DC voltage is investigated, and the parallel model is proved a good mathematical model to fit the V-I curve of the nonlinear resistance. The FDS in the linear V-I area is investigated, and the GA-LM algorithm is put forward to recognize the model circuit parameters. Through the result, if there are 6 R-C branch in the model, the fitting result can reach a satisfy accuracy. Judge from the results, the parameters of the model can better evaluate the volt-ampere properties in the nonlinear V-I area and the polarization process in the linear V-I area by FDS experiment, which pave the way to evaluate the degree of the degradation of MOA in the future.
