Electrochemical test and Simulation of corrosion rate of five common ground electrode materials

The grounding electrode, buried in the soil, in addition to natural corrosion, will occur electrolysis reaction under the action of the earth current, accelerating corrosion. In this paper, the polarization curves of copper, carbon steel, galvanized steel, cast iron and graphite are tested by electrochemical polarization curves. After fitting the test data, the corrosion parameters of five kinds of ground electrode materials in soil simulated solution are obtained, and the corrosion rate was simulated according to the electrochemical test data. The corrosion rates of five kinds of earth electrode materials with or without earth current are calculated and compared. The simulation results show that under natural corrosion, the corrosion resistance of the five ground electrode materials are as follows: graphite > copper > galvanized steel > carbon steel > cast iron. When applied current, the corrosion resistance is: graphite > carbon steel > copper > cast iron > galvanized steel. Based on the experimental data to simulate the corrosion rate of the grounding electrode, which provides a new and effective method for the simulation of the corrosion rate of the grounding pole.
