Effect of Post-Heat Treatment on Superconducting Properties of Nb3Al Wires Prepared With RHQ Process at Different Conditions

In this paper, we studied the effects of the tensile stress, heating current, and postheat treatment on the performance of single core-structured jelly-roll Nb-Al precursor long wires fabricated with rapid heating, quenching (RHQ) process. It is observed that RHQ treatment with a tensile stress between 20 and 46.7 N/mm
²
tends to stabilize the RHQ process by reducing the mechanical vibration, however, it is easy to cause breakage of the wires and interrupt the continuous process. A stable tensile-stress-free RHQ process is developed which allows to further optimize the RHQ processing and to improve the superconducting performance of the Nb
₃
Al wires.
