Parallel operation of different energy sources

For the last two decades, various solutions to provide consumers with renewable energy sources have been implemented. Renewable sources are present in nature, regardless we use them or not. The use of renewable energy sources can be economically profitable, does not affect the environment pollution, and there is no consumption of fossil fuels. Hybrid power supply systems provide power from different energy sources. Hybrid systems allow the connection of different energy sources into parallel operation so that the energy of all available sources is used. Hybrid systems that use solar energy, wind energy, fuel cell or geothermal energy can provide power to areas where there is no power distribution network. Power systems that use different energy sources and allocate power in accordance with a predetermined algorithm are called Programmable Hybrid Power Systems (PHPS). The operating algorithm is defined by the user, according to certain criteria. Such systems must have serial converters controlled by a microcomputer. The management of the available energy depends on the required energy, but also on the stability of the used sources. The paper presents the operation principle of a programmable hybrid power supply system that is used for consumers with DC power. The idea is to use serial converters in connection with the solar panel, the wind generator, and the batteries to accumulate surplus energy.
