Dual Polarized Plasmonic Refractive Index Sensor based on Photonic Crystal Fiber

A simple circular lattice plasmonic refractive index (RI) sensor based on photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is presented in this work. Finite element method (FEM) based numerical results show that the suggested sensor exhibits the highest wavelength sensitivity of 12,000 nm/RIU, the highest amplitude sensitivity of 2044 RIU

and the highest sensor resolution of 8.33×10

RIU for both x- and y-polarized modes due to the analyte RI variation from 1.37-1.41. A high coefficient of determination (R

= 0.9963) is also gained by using the quadratic curve fitting of the resonance wavelength. Considering these promising results, the proposed sensor can be competent for bio-sensing application.
