Evaluation of Data Rate Effects on UWB Channel Estimation

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology shows from day to day that it could be a good solution for the next generations, thus due to many reasons where it is characterized by high speed transmission. Therefore, to study its performance, we should know at what range the data rate could influence on transmission and on the channel estimation, where the channel is characterized by the attenuations and delays of the multipath. The IEEE 802.15.3a has adopted four models for UWB channel along with AWGN. Besides, Time-Hopping Pulse Position Modulation (TH-PPM) for UWB is studied, where a Selective Rake (S-Rake) receiver is set up to gather paths and to evaluate the channel via the Maximum-Likelihood (ML) method according two ways Data Added (DA) and Non-Data Added (NDA). Finally, the performance evaluation of the Mean Square Error (MSE) of the channel estimation error and the Bit Error Ratio (BER) versus different orders of high bit rate are addressed so as to see the robustness of the UWB technology in the midst of daily life requirements.
