Critical Factors for the Adoption of Social Sustainability Practices in Vietnamese Handicraft Organizations

This paper presents a conceptual framework for the adoption of social sustainability practices (SSP) in Vietnamese handicraft organizations drawing from the institutional theory and the diffusion of innovations theory. The proposed framework is tested and validated with seventeen semi-structured interviews with managers and practitioners in the Vietnamese handicraft industry. This leads to the identification of critical factors including organizational behavior, institutional pressures, and organizational characteristics for the adoption of SSP in Vietnamese handicraft organizations. This paper contributes to the social sustainability research by identifying the critical factors for improving the adoption of SSP in organizations in the Vietnamese handicraft industry.
