Design and Fabrication of Resistively Loaded Dipoles using Planar Resistor Technology

For broadband pulse radar applications such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR), resistively loaded dipoles (RD) were designed and fabricated using planar resistor technology (PRT). Both continuous and discrete loading schemes were considered in designing the antenna. The method of realization in this research, PRT, is more advantageous than previous chip-resistor loading method in terms of mechanical stability, since the chip resistors mounted on the substrate are vulnerable to both physical and electrical stresses. The fabricated antennas were measured and analyzed in the time domain for use in broadband pulse radiation.
