Broadband RF to DC Rectifier for Time Reversal Based Wireless Power Transfer

A simple broadband rectifier designed for time reversal (TR) based wireless power transfer (WPT) in a complex propagation environment is presented. Since TR is a broadband technique which delivers a short pulse at a desired location due to wave focusing, broadband matching is necessary. Here we achieve broadband matching using only two inductors and the rectification performance is validated via numerical simulation. The results show that the rectification efficiency is significantly higher for TR pulses compared to narrowband signals. This indicates that a TR based broadband system may more effectively deliver wireless power with higher efficiency in a complex propagation environment.
