Computational Fluid Dynamic Simulation on Bladeless Fan as Active Cooling Application

In the current research, Heat is the main problem for the electrical components and battery of electric bus. It has a high potential to shorten the lifetime of the component, especially battery while charged at stationer condition and controller while operating at high load. This study was aimed to investigate the characteristic of the bladeless fan as active cooling implementation for electronic component and battery inside a chair of an electric bus by using CFD simulation. Analysis of the performance and flow inside the fan system were obtained by aerodynamic investigation. A cross section of airfoil profile was used in order to design the optimal bladeless fan. The inlet air speed, diagonal airfoil ratio, slit thickness of outlet airflow, and distance ration couple of airfoils was varied. The result showed that fourdiagonal value ratios had reached maximum value discharge ration and it had increased significantly when the outlet thickness decreased. Overall inlet slit thickness variation was indicated that this variable is the most influent parameter on the Bladeless aerodynamic fan performance.
