Synchronization Analysis of EEG during Name Recognition Using Hilbert Huang Coherence

The synchronization of EEG signals from different region of the brain are related to human higher-order activity such as self-cognition, pattern recognition and working memory. In this study, Hilbert-Huang coherence(HHC) that can achieve both high frequency resolution and high time resolution was proposed to analyze the synchronization of EEG. Furthermore, we presented three types of visual stimuli (subject's own name, famous name and figure) to three subjects and applied HHC to EEG for each stimulus. In the result of this study, it confirmed that the amplitude of N100 for name stimuli was larger than that of N100 for figure stimuli. the amplitude of P200 for subject's own name was larger than that for famous name. In addition, in the midline electrodes, it confirmed by HHC that the synchronization of EEG around 10 Hz for name stimuli was higher than that for figure stimuli in the range of 0.0 to 0.2 s from stimuli onset.
