Motion of Magnetic Nanofluids in an External Magnetic Field in Media of Different Viscosity

First we describe the characterization of magnetic nanofluids (MNF) accessing transmission electron microscopy, image processing, dynamic light scattering and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The magnetic properties of the fluids are determined by a comparison between force measurements and numerical calculations. In the second part a water cooled slotless field-generating device is developed to investigate the movement of MNF samples through various media of different viscosity. High speed recording is used to detect varying concentrations of MNF through differences in brightness and in grayscale.
