A non-parametric design method for predictive control

The predictive controller design method proposed in the paper utilizes the finite impulse or step responses, also called system Markov parameters. Its implementation is discussed in detail through the re-design of the closed-loop observer based on the state-space method for predictive control. Compared to the conventional algorithms, such as DMC or MAC, it does not need to truncate the response series approximately to zero or a constant, which gives the computational advantages. Apart from that, it is liable to theoretic analysis, and the closed-loop stability is presented. Thus the proposed method not only keeps the virtues of the previous predictive controllers using non-parametric models, but it also has the features of wide applications and being suitable to theoretic analysis.
