Protein Regulating Networks underlying Multiple Actions against Cancer Delivered by Ginseng

Ginseng is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with multiple constituents and therapeutic actions. These actions have been adapted in herb formulae against cancers. Yet the underlying mechanisms are not clear. In this study, started with proteins regulated by ginsenoside rb1/re/rg1, ginseng's multi constituents, bioinformatics analysis towards protein interacting networks were deployed. As a result, three protein interacting networks regulated by ginsenosides against cancers were constructed. These networks target fundamental processes e.g., metabolism, immune response and mitosis. Via regulating these fundamental processes, ginseng delivers its multiple actions against cancers. This study proposes a novel method to explore underlying mechanisms of multiple actions of Chinese herbal medicines with multiple constituents.
