A Low Loss Slow Wave Structure Based on HCG SSP for Traveling Wave Tube Applications

Traveling wave tubes have been used as a kind of important high power microwave source. However, the slow wave structure at millimeter wave usually has the disadvantage of high conductor loss. The high contract grating based spoof surface plasmons is proposed in this paper to act as the slow wave structure for millimeter wave traveling wave tubes. It is demonstrated that the proposed slow wave structure can reduce the circuit loss a lot.
