Performance Improvement of Symbol Decision for Visual-MIMO System in RGB LED Lighting

In this paper, we propose a representative color selection method by removing saturated white color to improve symbol color decision performance of the color-independent visual-MIMO system in lighting using RGB LEDs. We apply k-means clustering to represent all pixels as a set of colors and remove the color clusters located around the standard illuminant E by using the standard deviation of the set of colors. The average of the rest of the set of colors determines the symbol color. We demonstrate that the proposed method improves symbol decision accuracy than the conventional average method in RGB LED lighting.
