A New Sensorless Control of Doubly Fed Induction Motor Based on Extended Complex Kalman Filter

This paper presents a new method for the vector control of Doubly-Fed Induction Motor (DFIM) without using speed sensors or rotor position measurements. The proposed sensorless method is based on Extended Complex Kalman Filter (ECKF) for estimating the position and speed of the machine. This estimator is more attractive than the real one 'EKF' from the point of view of modeling and stability consideration. In order to implement this estimator, a sensorless control structure based on stator field oriented control is investigated in which two voltage inverters are used to supply the stator and rotor sides. The simulation results implemented on Matlab/Simulink shows effectiveness under various operating conditions (Low speed, nominal speed and high speed).
