High Power-density ICT Equipment Calls for Simpler Power Distribution Architecture and Updated Codes

Enormous power demand needs heavy infrastructure investment for the telecommunication operators. According to current codes, the batteries' back-up time of a rectifier system is recommended by one to two hours. In addition, the number of diesel generators is required as N (for all the critical ICT loads as well as battery-charging loads and their refrigerant loads) to 2N (when the grid supplies is not from dual ways). More and more telecommunication operators pay great attention to this heavy investment for the infrastructure. They believe that great quantities of diesel generators and batteries occupied too much room and investment and there is no convincing economic return.
