Design of Flat Dielectric Reflectarrays Using State-of-the-Art Additive Manufacturing

Dielectric reflectarray antennas consisting of a solid and flat ceramic with spatial variation of dielectric constant are proposed for mm-wave applications. Additive manufacturing is used to tailor the dielectric constant to achieve the desirable reflection phase on the reflectarray aperture. The complete design process is outlined, and a Ka-band dielectric reflectarray with a gain of 33.1 dB and desirable radiation characteristics is demonstrated.
