3D LTE Coverage Prediction for Residential District by Ray Tracing Simulation

The deployment of the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base stations significantly impacts the quality of communication and the cost of the operator. This paper focuses on predicting the power coverage for LTE microcell base stations at 2.6 GHz. We reconstruct the 3D environment model of a realistic residential district and conduct extensive ray-tracing simulations for different heights and different receiver locations in the same region. The results provide numerical analysis on how the buildings and heights impact the propagation within and surrounding the building, and therefore, guide the deployment of the base stations in typical residential districts.
