A Novel Wideband Antenna with Added Bottom Rectangular Slabs for Gain Improvement

In this paper a new designed thin wide band antenna is introduced. The proposed monopole antenna which was fabricated on flexible substrate has compact geometry area of 51 × 22 mm² that makes it suitable for handheld applications. The antenna was featured with three rectangular slabs at the bottom layer in order to improve boresight gain performance over spectrum of operation. Moreover, the antenna produces semi omni directive radiation and has radiation efficiency more than 90 % over its bandwidth of operation. The antenna design along with simulation and experimental results are presented in this work.
