Novel Balanced Coupled-Line Leaky-Wave Antenna Without Equalization of Phase Velocities

A composite right/left-handed coupled-line leaky-wave antenna has been proposed, in which the balance condition has been met without the need for equalization of coupled-line sections phase velocities. The proposed concept adapts the previously reported concept of a coupled-line leaky-wave antenna, however, the compensation of unequal phase velocities which might cause the introduction of stop-band within operational bandwidth are compensated in a more simpler manner, omitting the time-consuming design of the modulated shape of coupled-line sections. The exemplary 32-unit-cell leaky-wave antenna is developed to prove the usability of the proposed concept.
